Money loan receipt (recipisă) template

A receipt (recipisă) is the simplest written proof that you lent money. If the borrower does not repay, it is the main document you will rely on in court.

It should state clearly who received the money, from whom, the amount and currency, that the money was actually received, and the repayment date. Ideally the borrower handwrites and signs it.

Points to watch

  • Write the amount in figures and in words.
  • State that the money was "received in full on signing".
  • Keep the original.
  • A partial repayment restarts the 3-year limitation period (Art. 401 Civil Code) — get it confirmed in writing.

Mistakes that can cost you money

  • No personal ID or address — in court you must show the signer is the borrower.
  • Amount in figures only — write it in words too.
  • "I took 20,000" — say it is a loan and give the repayment date.
  • Keep the original until repaid in full.

Frequently asked questions

Does the receipt need a notary?

No. A receipt written and signed by the borrower is written evidence; notarisation strengthens it for large sums.

How long do I have to sue?

The general limitation period is 3 years from the repayment date (Art. 391 Civil Code).

Debtor still not paying?

We take over: negotiation, court, enforcement. Fee only from money recovered.
